Night Markets: Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei Night Markets

Night markets are quite popular in Asia. These are marketplaces filled with food and miscellaneous vendors that mainly operate at night. I’ve been to ones in other Asian countries and cities. By far, Taipei night markets are my favorite.

It was my first time in Taipei. I’ve heard all about how great night markets are, but just didn’t know how great until experiencing them for myself. My friends and I went to a different every night of our short trip!

The best way to experience night markets is with a group. The more people you are with, the more you can share, meaning the more food you can try. But food at night markets is very very affordable either way!

Shopping-wise, don’t expect too much at night markets. There are plenty of small shops all over to wander in and look. We bought small random things like socks, headphone ties, magnets. If you have something specific in mind, it’s best to go to a shopping mall.

The three night markets we went to.

  1. Tonghua Night Market 臨江街觀光夜市: Da’an District
  2. Shilin Night Market 士林夜市: Shilin District
  3. Raohe Street Night Market 饒河夜市: Songshan District

Read my next posts to hear more about each one!
